Opportunity #1
Fidget Packs
Searches for “fidget packs” have exploded onto the map from March 2021.
We took a deep dive into fidget products in our Volume 2 post here. We’re still optimistic about the space and don’t think it’s going anywhere. Since we analyzed the competition a couple of weeks ago, we’re already seeing many new sets and combinations of fidget toys pop up in the market.
Sellers are reacting fast to the data and there’s going to be a huge wave of competitors rushing into the niche, make sure you have a well-defined and differentiated offer in what you sell.
Future thoughts:
Fidget toys are getting commoditized in their singular forms. Creating a package of multiple fidget toys that solve a specific problem such as anxiety, stress, ADHD symptoms, can go much further in building a moat and connection between your brand and the customers you serve.
Opportunity #2
Liquid Chlorophyll
Another TikTok-fuelled explosion that promises: a flatter tummy, skin improvements, and no body odor.
Too good to be true? Customers are racing online to find out for themselves. We’ve gotten in touch with supplement private label manufacturers and they’re all struggling to keep up with demand as well.
The top seller on Amazon sold around $1.8 million dollars worth of this liquid green gold last month—they are one of the more established sellers who has been in the space since 2016 with over 8,000 reviews. However, newcomers with less than 10 reviews have been seeing $72k - $1M in monthly sales as well.
Future thoughts:
Tell consumers that you can flatten their stomach, fix their acne and rescue them from bad B.O and they will buy your product by the barrel. Doctors are downplaying its miracle effects, claiming that things like proper hydration promoted by this supplement can already boost benefits, with or without the liquid drops. Chlorophyll can be introduced into the diet with green vegetables, and the chemical, Chlorophyllin, applied directly to the skin is actually far more effective for treating acne. We’d still pack our deodorant for the gym though.
People are always going to be looking for a magic pill (or liquid). TikTok/Gen Z/Zoomers are entering the consumer index and will be throwing their dollars at products similar to those the previous generations fell for. Remember the Kale craze? Fish oils boom? Apple cider vinegar rush?
There are going to be plenty of supplements that explode over the next decade that speak the language of Gen Z, just be sure to be in the right place at the right time when that conversation happens.
Opportunity #3
Front Door Wreath
Vaccines are rolling out, gatherings are happening, make sure your guests know which front door to knock on when you have them over.
A front door wreath is a classic item that isn’t too overcrowded with sellers yet.
Throughout the pandemic, people have become more attuned to their living spaces (mostly because they had no other choice). Renovations and home decor purchases were some of the activities that replaced spending elsewhere.
Future thoughts:
The home goods category is extremely competitive but we always keep an eye out for up-and-coming products in this space because the longevity of your product can be high. Keep thinking about home decor and how that might shift post-pandemic. Where is the spending going to shift to next? Is spending on the home going to continue growing?
